*“To see with eyes unclouded by hate.” * what an utterly beautiful movie. i was talking to someone about miyazki’s world and how it’s a whole other realm while at the same time beautifully reflecting our world. the way he shows ‘visible’/physical gods dying in this time is so beautifully done. how the essence of life, the spirit cannot die because it is life itself. the way he showed that; the final breath of the great forest spirit purifying everything, curing ashitaka’s curse and making the forest grow back is beautiful beyond words [cry]. i also loved the ending where san tells him she cares about him but could never forgive the human race for what they’ve done. just the way everything is portrayed is mind blowing !!! lady eboshi shooting off the gods head representing human greed. the eventual / final version of the night walker showing the dangerous and sometimes destroying nature of nature to showcase the consequences of disrupting the natural order and balance. ashitakas curse being the physical form of what hatred, anger and bitterness can be. hayao miyazaki’s brain needs to be studied and i want to be the one to do it. there’s so much you can dissect in this movie but overall it was just beautiful:’). i need to tune it with more of studio ghibli’s movies and most definitely will. ALSO — the fact this partly inspired avatar the last airbender ?!?!?! one of my, if not favorite, shows of all time 🥹. i immediately recognized the nightwalker as the ocean spirit (?) in ATLA and how the spirit world is very highly inspired by this. + san’s attire being inspo for the painted lady maybe? GOSH i just adore that crossover especially since i just fully watched & finished ATLA and have been fangirling over it a whole lot. a perfect time to have watched this movie! <3

i’ve watched this movie around… 7 times? ever since i was a kid i’ve been watching this movie every. singl. trip. at the time i had no idea why i liked this movie so much and kept revisiting it. but now at 16 i know why — i have grown into a ***lara jean*** myself… *reading, daydreaming and fantasizing about love *without actually going out & experiencing it just yet… i think this movie is such a great example of how to do a **teenage romcom** movie! it portrays teenagers realistically and i think does a great job of making a lot of young girls feel seen and relate to miss lara jean <3. the whole vibe of this movie is so **cozy** too. the color choices, lara jeans room (!!!!!!!! AN AMAZING SET) — all of it. the aesthetics give me cartoon-y heart eyes whenever i watch it. plus the love story, duh. it’s one that makes you giggle & kick your feet :’) + i actually really enjoyed the fake dating trope in this movie specifically :p. they did a great job at the ‘shy’ girl x ‘popular’ boy trope while still having lara jean be a girl with identity and personality ♡ & without making peter kavinsky an absolute douche you’re only supposed to like because he’s popular and attractive and sees the ‘shy’ girl. ***PK + LJ 4 life 🤍.*** i hold this movie very close & dear to me; **my comfort movie! :)**
