what an utterly beautiful movie. i was talking to someone about miyazki’s world and how it’s a whole other realm while at the same time beautifully reflecting our world.
the way he shows ‘visible’/physical gods dying in this time is so beautifully done. how the essence of life, the spirit cannot die because it is life itself. the way he showed that; the final breath of the great forest spirit purifying everything, curing ashitaka’s curse and making the forest grow back is beautiful beyond words [cry].
i also loved the ending where san tells him she cares about him but could never forgive the human race for what they’ve done.
just the way everything is portrayed is mind blowing !!!
lady eboshi shooting off the gods head representing human greed.
the eventual / final version of the night walker showing the dangerous and sometimes destroying nature of nature to showcase the consequences of disrupting the natural order and balance.
ashitakas curse being the physical form of what hatred, anger and bitterness can be.
hayao miyazaki’s brain needs to be studied and i want to be the one to do it.
there’s so much you can dissect in this movie but overall it was just beautiful:’). i need to tune it with more of studio ghibli’s movies and most definitely will.
ALSO — the fact this partly inspired avatar the last airbender ?!?!?! one of my, if not favorite, shows of all time 🥹. i immediately recognized the nightwalker as the ocean spirit (?) in ATLA and how the spirit world is very highly inspired by this. + san’s attire being inspo for the painted lady maybe? GOSH i just adore that crossover especially since i just fully watched & finished ATLA and have been fangirling over it a whole lot. a perfect time to have watched this movie! <3
