“Just the other day, right here in Xenia, Ohio, a man walked up to me and said I haven’t eaten in three days. I said, Force yourself! Another man walked up to me and said, I haven’t eaten in a week! I said, Don’t worry. It tastes the same!”
This is my first ever Criterion collection blu-ray. I just got it today and I am so so happy with it. This movie is so damn good and way better after a rewatch but damn, it’s not for everybody.
Instead of having a real story, all you see is clips of people’s everyday lives and how their living in Xenia, Ohio years after a devastating tornado hit. It’s rough, it’s gross, but this is one of the realest feeling movies and it does a phenomenal job at immersing you in this city even though you definitely don’t want to be there, but that’s what makes it so special. The music and the amount of people we see in the movie is what I like so much about it. Instead of it just seeing Tummler and Solomon, we see a shit ton of different people all giving off completely different conversations and it really adds to the overall feel and environment of the movie, I really love it.
This movie gives off a feeling that very few films have given me. The way it’s shot is so real feeling and it’s just such a well put together, disgusting ass movie and I enjoyed every second of it. This really is something special, but I completely understand those who don’t enjoy it.
