Leviticus
I hate horror films, but this film is so much more. The scariest thing about it was what it represented and its true meaning. Nothing comes close to the concept of this film. Nothing. When you actually deep the concept of the film, it may just be the saddest thing I’ve ever watched. The entity being a metaphor for the hardships that queer people face physically hurts me so much, it has and always will be there forever no matter what.
During the film I was questioning why Naim wouldn’t run away faster when he knew it was the entity, but after I realised that he just loved him so much and missed Ryan so much that he just wanted to be near something that resembled him, even if it meant him getting hurt or killed. Like, tell me that’s not the most devastating thing you’ve ever heard of. Imagine craving someone that much…
I am so desperate for Ryan’s POV but I don’t want a sequel because I think the film is so perfect as it is.
‘It will never be me’.
Adding to this, the fact that Ryan’s entity still looked like Naim even after this just shows you how deeply they cared for each other. Even in Ryan’s subconscious, Naim was still the person he desired the most.
‘If I’m going to live with this thing I don’t want it look like some other dickhead, I want it to look like you’.
Might just be the most romantic thing someone’s ever said since ‘I wish I knew how to quit you’ (Brokeback Mountain)
