Devilman Crybaby
the first time i watched this it was the beginning of covid. and it was a wave of emotions and then boom gone didnt remember it UNTIL i stumbled upon it again years later. against other reviews, i honestly think the art style is good. its unique, trippy, and following that the OST is amazing, and the character design and writing is interesting as you watch. ( especially with how the demons look and ryo’s design and final design. ) the writing its supposed to be assure it’s an uncomfortable watch, its done in a way that’s absolutely tasteless cause the subject at hand gets darker and darker as the episodes go on. its the literal destruction of mankind.
for a netflix anime its incredible. especially when it first came out! it makes watchers think wow. maybe humans are the same ( if not worse ) than the demons. they’re brutal, they’re incredibly horny, and at sometimes have some human characteristics that are so minor, but impactful nonetheless. there were many moments where i was like “what the fuck did i just watch” and had to take a breather ( last three episodes.. omg. ) when i was younger, i didn’t really get the ending. gaining the idea its a loop and then just thinking ‘oh ok, yeah that sucks’ but now? its kind of hopeful. for all the tragedy and loss, satan learned to love. and because of that, maybe things could be different. or is that the point? he finds it and never learns and sticks to his pride?
