His Three Daughters
An intimate movie made with so much care. Cathartic for people who experienced grief, because not many movies get it right.
It really is the absence. The more time passes, the more you find it in places you hadn’t thought of yet. All the different people they were at all the different times. You rediscover them all again, a few at the start very quickly, and others on a distant day unexpectedly. It doesn’t end, but it’s so precious that it doesn’t, a privilege that you can keep loving them.
It’s so special when movies allow you the opportunity to connect with your soul and process your emotions. It doesn’t always have to be new, it just has to be real and genuine. The script and the acting was beyond that, it was so excellent and perfect. Even then, this movie did feel new, it never tried to forcefully capture your attention or admiration, it just gave the characters the time they needed to explore their grief.
A definite must-watch, and will surely be revisiting this on a day I need it.
