Conclave
If I had a nickel for every time Stanley Tucci was denied a leadership position, I'd have two nickels. Which isn't a lot, but it's weird that it happened twice
I went into this movie expecting a mundane, story-telling dominated movie with little to no action, however, to my surprise, this film was one of the coolest thrillers I have seen recently. At first glance, the concept of the movie looks quite dull and monotonous, but, the whole time it felt super tense and suspenseful. Pacing was super neat, and combined with amazing writing, it made the watching experience incredibly enjoyable. The cinematography was beautiful, and a lot of the shots were as close to perfection as it gets. It's worth mentioning that acting made this movie ten times better. Ralph Fiennes delivered an Oscar-worthy performance, along with Stanley Tucci. Actors in supporting roles were sensational as well, like, for example, Merab Ninidze delivered a great performance, especially considering the fact that he isn't even a native speaker. Dialogues and monologues were written incredibly well, especially the confrontation scenes. The human nature and its imperfections were captured spectacularly, showing the viewers that even the supposedly best of the best sin and go against the teachings of their religion. The ending was completely unexpected and at first confusing, but overall it was a nice ending to a great movie.
