Rush
Niki told his wife to not expect any romantic gestures from him, and yet he gave up the most important race of his life to spend more time with her.
I was expecting a really cheap, lame documentary about Lauda, however, I was left speechless. Insanely intense race scenes, great behind the curtains action, and a super well-paced plot, this movie had it all. On a more technical note, production was incredible: from acting to sound design, it's all remarkable. Daniel Brühl delivers an amazing, Oscar-worthy performance, he perfected Lauda's mannerisms down to every last detail. Chris did a good job portraying Hunt as well, even though he faced criticism from James' son. I still can't believe Daniel didn't even get nominated for an Oscar for this breathtaking portrayal of Niki Lauda. In the last scene, where they mixed actors with actual footage of drivers, for a second I couldn't even tell them apart, thanks to insane film editing and perfect casting.Visual displays, cuts, the last sequence, every aspect that involved an editing team was as close to perfection as it gets. That one scene where drivers' ranking was displayed over the race was soo beautiful.
And there are so many great moments like: "Tell the priest to fuck off. I'm still alive" the most accurate depiction of German comedy,or saying that Ferrari is a shitbox, so many awesome lines and dialogues...
Probably the best racing movie I have seen in my life, and my sports movie genre bias didn’t even influence me to rate this movie so high.
