Blade Runner
dammmmnnnnnn bruh, first rewatch since reading ‘do androids dream of electric sheep’!!!! eek!!!! blade runner at times feels like it’s in its own league in comparison to the book. deckard’s character is more different to the book than he is similar, (not to discredit harrison’s rick deckard, he is incredible). they are lowkey almost two completely different people!! in the book he’s quite a stern, grumpy, but headstrong man, and in blade runner he’s a lot more careless and reckless. the one thing i’m very glad they kept was the way deckard shakes after killing a replicant, i think that’s such an important detail to his character.
it does suck to know that originally there were meant to be more nexus-6 replicants in blade runner but they had to cut them out due to budget cuts, i really think that if they included them it would’ve been great depending on how they were presented. the fights on the nexus-6’s in the movie were so gripping, it’s much easier in blade runner’s case to get emotionally gripped to the fights as it was in the book! roy batty (which i am so gassed they kept his name) in the movie, was absolutely fucking incredible. his presence as a replicant outshone every other replicant (pris and rachael were close seconds). the way he embodies the brute nature and rawness of a replicant was STUNNING, rutger hauer you were fucking amazing. the anger he holds about him towards the blade runners, the way he carries himself and takes charge, just wow bruh.
"I've seen things you people wouldn't believe. Attack ships on fire off the shoulder of Orion. I watched C-beams glitter in the dark near the Tannhäuser Gate. All those moments will be lost in time, like tears in rain. Time to die."
BRUHHHHHHH he is just so perfect in both the movie and in the book, man i just get goosebumps thinking of the way he delivers his dialogue.
the soundtrack was a banger, it holds this dreamlike, melancholic feeling about it. it made me feel like i could imagine myself just as a replicant longing for that sense of belonging in the world. the soundtrack being paired with deckard’s narration was so beautiful, he really sets you right next to him throughout this movie. the visuals are stunning they really fucking are, the colouring, the layouts of the streets, the cars, even how civilians walk around. yeah, incredible stuff man.
