Millennium Mambo
got recommended this film so many times, and I wanted to love it, but by the time the first hour passed, I was completely checked out and felt absolutely nothing.
the opening shot deserved so much more.
it’s promising in almost every aspect, but there’s not nearly enough character development or care given to the narrative to make you feel anything for these people. the drama is completely invisible. it’s all style over substance, and when I say style… I mean it attempts to do a really vanilla Wong Kar-ian impression, which hurts to say because this has the same cinematographer from
In The Mood For Love.
does it have a spirit? sure.
does it have a soul? I don’t believe so.
is it worth watching? sure.
