WandaVision

WandaVision (2021) Showran by Jac Schaeffer Starring Elizabeth Olsen, Paul Bettany, and Kathryn Hahn Story: WandaVision follows Wanda and Vision as they are inside of a sitcom reality. WARNING: This review contains spoilers for WandaVision. The Bad: The most disappointing part about this show is the fact that they had a really unique thing going for them. The first three episodes pays homage to sitcoms like The Dick Van Dyke Show, Bewitched, and The Brady Bunch. And there was a layer of mystery throughout. Why was Wanda doing this? Is she in full control? Whos the beekeeper? But in episode four every single mystery had an explanation. They completely ruined the immersion and it went from a really good intresting show to just your typical super hero show. Another disappointing factor is Evan Peters playing Quicksilver. If you don't know Evan Peters played Quicksilver in Fox's X-Men movies and since Disney recently acquired Fox in 2019 I thought that they were setting up the multiverse and so did many others. I don't know what they were thinking when they told fans that WandaVision would connect to Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, and then recast Quicksilver with the same actor who played him in another franchise just for him to be a nobody called Ralph Bohner (not even joking). The Good: Although I am saying a lot of bad things about the show, I still like it. This show has Elizabeth Olsen's and Paul Bettany's best performances as Wanda and Vision. And I also like how they explored grief through a super powered being. Another amazing thing about this show is the fact that it made me not hate Darcy Lewis. If you have read my reviews on the first two Thor movies you would know how much this character annoyed me but she's not that bad here and was a welcome appearance. Along with Jimmy Woo and Monica Rambeau. And I'm excited to see Monica in Secret Wars. I'm also looking forward to see how this connects to Multiverse of Madness.
