Dunkirk
Time. The main component in Christopher Nolan’s masterpiece Dunkirk.
When the first seconds tick away everything that you see and hear is involved with time.
The characters constantly get involved in situations where there’s a fair amount of time-pressure to get out of the situation they’re in.
But Nolan als did choose to tell the story from land, from sea and from the sky. 3 different situations, 3 different time-durations. On land he tells a story which lasts about a week. On sea the story is a day in total and the story told from the skies happened in a hour.
It doesn’t stop there: Hand Zimmer made use of this concept as well while creating his fantastic score for this film. Often you hear ticking clocks and such to illustrate the time-pressure the characters on screen are experiencing.
It really is great stuff. Supported by fantastic visuals, like we’re used to from Christopher Nolan, makes this a true must-watch!
