Sonatine

This is definitely not your typical gangster movie. I like how it’s just a few yakuza members hanging out on a secluded beach, play crazy games and then in the next moment we see the brutality and ruthlessness of these men and those violent scenes come across, as something ordinary. However, I didn’t really like how sometimes there were just deadpan reactions when someone was shot, I don't know if that was supposed to be funny, but it didn't really fit the tone of the film, in my opinion. I also felt that there wasn't much of a plot in this film, which isn't necessarily always a bad thing, but in this case, I still felt like a little more could have happened. The score and cinematography were absolutely beautiful though. 7.7/10
