Close-Up
I once saw a comment under a post related to cinema and someone mentioned it isn’t so easy for those living in places like Iran to be able to create art of this nature, even once in their lifetime—that people like him are forgotten. I replied with: Ill remember you. That moment stayed with me because I think this is for people who have such worthy and beautiful ambitions, poetic souls who are unfortunate to be born under constricted and impoverished circumstances, the anguish of provincial poverty tearing away your only chance of happiness. When asked why he decided to document such an uninteresting case, Abbas saw something we didn’t; the art of noticing, a commemoration for the ones who never got the chance to be noticed. I hope that wherever Sabzian is, that all his desires become so overabundant that he can’t escape them.
Rest in peace to both of them🩷
