I have no idea what I was thinking with my first review of this movie. I said it was a 6/10 movie that I happened to personally enjoy despite its flaws. Rewatching this film after it’s had a little over a year to sit in the back of my head, this is way better than a 6/10 film. This is a fantastic 10/10 film. Admittedly I’m a bit too tired to write out a full review at the moment, but I’ll try and get some thoughts across.
The music of course is fantastic, but I disagree completely with my original take that this movie is “way too long” and is repetitive and shallow. This move is vibrant. It’s full of energy. It does an absolutely fantastic job exploring the debauchery of Hollywood, the hypocrisy, and the excess. It shows how it builds stars and destroys them with no regard for anything except money for the studios and progress for the medium itself. I absolutely loved this movie on a rewatch.
