Uncut Gems
God i've seen this like 4 times when i was 14 and it's still so enchanting to watch it unfold. It really feels like the current magnum opus of the safdie brothers, incorporating themes and stylistic elements from their earlier filmography while perfecting them. New york as a reoccurring location feels the most alive and nauseating here. You could also see elements of mumblecore being modernized, perfected and made accesible in this film. The family dynamics - previously tackled in their earlier movies like Daddy Longlegs - are so well written with the amazing and realistically nuanced acting from every single person in the cast, down to the last minute detail and face movement. Many people symphatize with Adam Sandler's character in the movie, which is such an achivement considering the fact that he plays an objectively morally bankrupt, irresponsible manipulator in this movie, but in such a way that he definetly will remind you of someone you know in real life. The rest of the cast really don't get enough credit for how well they played especially Idina Menzel, who portrayes the nuances of her character so well, she bounces off the energy of Noa Fischer so good, who is also amazing even for her limited screentime. Julia fox is so good too. The oneotherix soundtrack still hits everytime. Ugh such a great movie
