Before Sunset
the unanswered questions, the longing looks, the sexual tension, the neurotic parisian woman and the down to the earth american guy. this movie is absolutely perfect to me. i could go on and on about why that is and why the constant conversations and the no gaps in this movie is what makes it great and i will. jesse has a lot at stake here. for starters, he is married with a son. he has a best selling book and he is on a tour for it. he is here and there and he is living, and he is answering questions about celine but he stops when he sees her. she looks just the same but so so different. and they get back on track like nothing ever happened. she's smiling and he's smiling and they are laughing, flirting, exchanging glances. celine wants to reach out to him like he tried to for the first time. she wants to make it up to him for not being there in Vienna on a cold day in december 16 1994 but they don't talk about it much. they hope. and as the clock ticks closer and closer to 7:30, jesse fiddles with his wedding ring as celine dances to nina simone and she's happy, he's happy and he looks at her - really looks at her - and he makes his decision right there.
"Baby, you're gonna miss your flight."
"I know."
the only bad thing i could muster up about this movie is the fact that both of them were in relationships. but other than that, the dialogues - the one after another, the reality checks, the constant yapping of it all, not to mention the stunning cinematography. richard linklater is truly a genius. this is my favourite film of all time ♥
