Trainspotting
from one of the best opening scenes, to the best ending scenes the sheer amount of intensity this movie has is absolutely diabolical. the way it jumps from scene to scene, from something so traumatizing and horrible to mark (ewan mcgregor) jumping off a ledge and into a druggie's lair is happening too quickly for me to even wrap my head around the movie and i love it. but it's not always funny. that scene of baby dawn's death was haunting - the loud, continuous screaming made my mom ask what i was watching and i was too in shock to even reply or explain to her that it was just a movie. the movie, much like a great beginning, to a great body and some great subplots, has an amazing ending. with 'born slippy' playing on the back and a light bulb on top of mark's head as he finally makes the decision to choose himself; choose life. he looks at his peers on the floor one last time before he walks out of the flat and takes whatever he could with him, leaving something for his friends to make sure they survive as well. 'bastard!! bastard!!' screamed begbie as he noticed mark, along with his money is gone. mark smiles as he walks into his new life. sober, happy and thrilled.
