Flow
I loved that we weren’t omniscient, as Dakota put it. We can put together there used to be humans, but they never tell us what happened to them. They never explain why the world is flooding, though one could assume it’s related to global warming. I liked that they never personified the animals, at least not in a way you’d expect. Like, animals have emotions and thoughts, but not to a point it felt fake. I believe that animals would all act this way. And they all had arcs: the Cat learned to not isolate themself, the Lemur learned to not be greedy, the Dog learned not to give into instincts, and the Capybara was just vibing the whole time. I could definitely see myself watching this over and over again or even throwing it on in the background.
Spoilers:
I assumed the whale wasn’t real by the end of the movie, like I kind of got that vibe as it was always there to help our characters get out of obstacles, but I thought they were going to pan over to show it was never really there.
