Possession
I don’t think I’ve ever seen someone scream so much in a film before
possession follows a failing marriage, anna wants a divorce and the house and their kid bob (interesting name) go to anna, anna neglects bob abne mark refuses to leave her alone with him, anna goes to a boyfriends house heinrich. we meet the teacher linda, she looks exactly like anna except she has blue eyes. chaos hits this movie as everyone scraps each other, mark fights heinrich and then beats his ex wife, they cut each other with a knife. mark hires someone to follow anna, as he believe something deeper is going on, and on that he was very much correct. the investigatior is not discrete whatsoever and he basically runs after her, he discovers this weird blobby monster and she stabs him with a wine glass, killing him. in my favourite scene in the film, anna is at a subway and has a miscarriage, she starts seating her hands side to side, blood comes out of her vagina while a white substance comes flying out her mouth, this scene was extra effective as it very really intense and war really well acted out, definitely one of the greatest performances of the 80s. this beast creature keeps intoxicating her head, she stabs her boyfriend and he runs bleeding, margie also dies (she had like 2 lines) anna has sex with this creature feature and mark looks over in absolute disgust: anna lies on top of mark, they’re both in bad condition and kill themselves, their son also commits suicide as the film closes with linda looking out the door with really shiny eyes. this is one of the best psychological horrors I’ve ever seen, it perfectly conveys emotion and really sticks in your head even hours later, the acting is extremely effective and there’s so much emotion within it every scene, the script is really well written and characters have a lot of depth, there’s also plentiful of twists and turns to keep the audience engaged.
