Alien

Alien is a brilliant film, it does things that lots of horror do well for example a lot of horror movies will have characters dying from the beginning to the end pretty much and won’t give these characters any time to simmer with you so they aren’t fleshed out, kinda making them just be assholes but alien doesn’t do that, a lot of this movie is just the very relatable and believable characters stressing out about the alien, giving you the sides of their personality. Another thing Ridley Scott did really well with this script is how he builds up the alien having it not show up for a while, which seems quite obvious but a lot of movies focus on the monster way too much and not giving you downtime which can really break not only the pacing but the immersion. Alien is not only one of the best horror movies ever made, it’s not only one of the best sci-fi movies ever made but it’s one of the best movies ever made.
