Before Sunset
“I want to see if you stay together or if you dissolve into molecules.”
This is a perfect film, and I don’t say that lightly. The level of intimacy and vulnerability in both performances is just sublime. Where Before Sunrise feels a little childish and dreamlike, this lands harder for me precisely because of its emotional maturity and the sadness that surrounds it.
Each character feels more fleshed out, almost tangible, not like your average rom-com, where people are idealized and detached from reality. This feels like real people going through real life struggles, and that’s something I’ll always be able to connect with, every single watch.
As someone who’s fascinated by dream logic, I guess I ended up connecting more deeply with the real world.
