Burnt
“some nights, i was almost as good as i thought i was.”
this movie is so important to me. it has had such a profound impact on my life and everything i do. when i first watched it, all i knew how to make was chicken schnitzel and spaghetti sauce (which were shitty to say the least), so after i watched this, an entirely new world had entered my vision. ideas, inspiration, cooking philosophy, it completely transformed everything i thought i knew about cooking and it introduced me to the sphere of fine dining, which is something ive been head over heels in love with ever since. i love rewatching this movie every year or so, as my knowledge of cooking and restaurants expands, i begin to understand more of the references in this movie, i constantly find myself agreeing or even critiquing the techniques, dishes, and opinions shown throughout its runtime. it was just such a life altering experience for me watching this for the first time, and thats why i will never ever rate it anything under 5/5. its the pinnacle of guilty pleasure cinema for me at least.
(Note: i watched this last night but forgot to post my review)
