Tenet

What's happened, happened.
Prior to rewatching through Nolan’s filmography last summer, I’ve found most of his post Inception work (excluding Interstellar) to be technically masterful but mostly vapid; Tenet was no exception at the time. I can’t think of many films where my opinion changed drastically on rewatch. Tenet is Nolan’s most audacious film to date. Tenet contains a plethora of awe inspiring action sequences of the likes of which could rival moments from any Mission: Impossible films. Right from the stunner that is the opera house sequence, The film benefits from just throwing the viewer right into the action. Washington and Pattinson are dynamite as our Protagoneil. While The Protagonist acts as our entry into the narrative of the film, Neil is the heart of the film. The film gets a bit expository (something Nolan has been always been criticized for), but never to the irritating rate of something like The Dark Knight Rises. It all comes together so beautifully once we find out about the ‘temporal pincer movement’ and the sequence between the protagonist and Sator. Right then and there, the movie never lets up and simultaneously manages to be exhilarating and (for me because I am stupid) confusing.
The final scene with Washington and Pattinson may be my favorite emotional beat in any of Nolan’s films, I’m not sure where this notion that Nolan’s movies have no heart and emotions. This one will just get better and better with each viewing.
But seriously what the hell was the accent that Kenneth Branagh was doing?
