Princess Mononoke
Humanity will inevitably continue to violate the balance of our world, but nature will ensue whether or not we make the necessary efforts to join it.
“Like you, I know what rage feels like, and grief and helplessness... Life is suffering. It is hard. The world is cursed, but still you find reasons to keep living."
The way that Princess Mononoke doesn’t shy away from showing many sides of both mankind and nature, the good and terrible, was refreshing. There were antagonists, but no true villain.
The metaphors and symbolism were sometimes heavy-handed, but it didn’t matter because they were presented so well. I’d be lying if I said this movie didn’t keep me thinking about it for days after I watched it.
"You cannot alter your fate, my prince. However, you can rise to meet it if you choose."
