Sicario
Denis Villeneuve continues to impress.
He manages to display the futility of the war on drugs and the effect of complacency regarding US involvement. He daringly asks the audience if it’s possible to successfully wage a war while attempting to cling to any sort of moral code?
Sicario leaves you with more questions than answers, but they are the RIGHT questions to be asking. It takes a hard look at how the United States handles interventionism, institutional corruption, and foreign policy. Then it leaves the viewers to think and draw conclusions from the ambiguous, grey mess we are left with.
“You’re asking me how a watch works. For now, let’s just keep and eye on the time.”
