Close
I guess I never read a plot synopsis and just decided Close was a thriller about a killer kid based on that poster. It's amazing to have a film with such well written and acted characters that you are able to empathize with every single one of them. A truly heart wrenching movie that had this cold hearted monster crying like a little bitch thirty minutes in. I know how the internet loves to pretend that every set of male friends secretly want to bone each other (the boys in Luca were NOT into each other!), so I'm sure I'm in the minority here in saying this isn't a gay love tragedy. It is however a story about how afraid straight men are of other people thinking we're gay. As a straight man who has definitely played extra macho in the fear that my high pitched voice might further fuel those gay rumors, I felt for both Leo and Remi deep in my soul. Amazing cinematography and every scene for the first hour and twenty minutes had me begging for it to go on for just a few more minutes and then they suddenly give me a longer scene and having that uncomfortable silence hanging in the air made me quickly change my mind. I could rack by brain for a real issue with this film, but any negative is far outweighed by the positives.
