I have a ton of gripes with the dialogue, plotting, and look of this movie but ultimately those are dwarfed by how much heart this had. Zendaya, Holland, and Bernthal just had the juice in this and I was really bought in on the relationships and emotional stakes. Not huge on Tillman or Sink's performances, particularly because of how poorly the 8 ball is hidden plot-wise. But this really feels like a graduation for Holland and Zendaya into much more adult performances in these movies.

man that scene with the Sirens was so haunting. Absolutely loved this, Nolan's gift for scale and scope was the only way the Odyssey could be adapted this successfully. Felt like there was a lot more lived life inside this one from Nolan than his earlier work. It's just so deeply personal and it really worked for me.

Unbelievably tight script, 4 perfect performances, and shot in a really fun way. So many laughs but they still managed to land the plane emotionally. I think I have Olivia Wilde season tickets now.

this movie understands how funny it is to make little kids swear like sailors
