(Out of an abundance of caution, I say that this review contains spoilers, whether or not it does. I don't think so, but beware, I guess) As you can tell by the watch date, I have been sitting with this movie for a long time, unsure of my thoughts on it. (Nearly 5 days) As of today, I have finally decided that it is a masterpiece unlike anything I have seen before. I could and probably will go on and on about everything this movie does right i mean the cinematography is gorgeous and forboding the way that you can't see nikkis face and shes pitch black in the shadows for one is amazing all of the miniscule details (a lot of which i caught but did not fully piece together until watching a video breaking them down) The main themes of male lonliness and toxicity are more then ever present espically with the times we live in today. I went into this movie cautiously because I heard about the rape and animal death. I will say I would have preferred not to have the main rape scene in the film, but I do, in a sense, understand its importance. Normally, I watch movies like this with someone, my dad and my brother mainly, but they refused to watch it because of the themes, and honestly, who can blame them? I would never recommend this movie to my friends who were raped, and I understand that, especially in the current administration we live under, the themes of bodily autonomy are ever-present. I was disappointed that the theater I watched it in had people yelling about scenes during the movie, which I have seen has happened to other people online, and I hope it's just that I watched this movie so late after it came out. But who knows? I think movies like this and some of my favorites are especially important to me because of the loneliness. I do feel that I have to tread very carefully and say that although I do feel me and Bear share some of the same traits of being lonely, quiet men, I disagree with nearly every choice he makes in the movie and find him despicable and the true villain of the movie. I truly have never been more frightened watching a movie than this one, and can some of that stem from this being my first horror movie watched in theaters, and first movie watched alone in years? Yes, but I still think that this movie is truly something to behold. Can I speak more about this movie? Most likely, but I feel as if this review is already incredibly long, so I will end it here! I may come back and add more if that is a thing that can be done on letterboxed!

(I do not feel that this review contains spoilers, but out of an abundance of caution, I put it as such) I find this movie, in a sense, personal because I live semi-close to where the original locations for the backrooms are (I still have yet to visit). Still, also i want to make it abundantly clear that before watching this movie all I had really experienced of the backrooms (and really the lost media horror genre as a whole) was a videogame escape the backrooms (which in my didnt really follow the source material but that is to its own benefit or demise depending on where you stand i go with demise personally) I watched this with some kids in the theater they behaved themselves it was just funny seeing a bunch of 12 year olds or whatever watching this. I think that this movie has incredible cinematography and absolutely amazing sets! I do believe that this movie would have been better suited with an ending that was not as abrupt and a longer runtime, but for what it is, I'm pretty impressed! I have heard they are already working on a second one, which does make me less mad about the abrupt ending and pacing. (Edit: changed date watched)

(This review will not cover any of episode 8 but will spoil most of episode 9, and some of the other episodes. Read at your own risk!) I did not watch this movie in theaters, and since I had already watched the 8th episode, I skipped ahead to the 9th. I do feel that the episode struggled with pacing issues, and feel that it would have been much better if spread to more episodes. I feel it wrapped up everything pretty nicely. I do wish more time was spent on literally anyone but Jax, but I understand they had to finish his character arc. I feel that there were many things in the series that had led up to this but were left completely unresolved, like gumigoo or not talked about enough like Queenie (albeit Kinger is my favorite character) I love this show for the connections i have made through it whether friends online or deeper connections with my family, and I think it will always hold a special place in my heart. (Edit: Forgot to add spoiler warning, whoops!)
