Heat
So I was debating what to watch tonight between this and Catch Me If You Can and holy shit I do not regret it. This was probably the most enjoyable film I’ve ever watched, a perfect mix of action and dialogue - the shootout scene is incredible. So many brilliant acting performances, from Al Pacino and Robert De Niro who are obviously top draw (although that goes without saying), but this was something very special from Val Kilmer. The intensity throughout is a great experience, but particularly at the very end where you just don’t know who you’re rooting for. On the topic of the end - what a beautiful scene, with both main characters sharing a bond, the same one that was developed in the coffee shop scene, and not to mention the music enhancing the moment. I really love how you get the raging sense of “antagonism but not evil” in this film. While this may look like any old high rated action movie, I can assure you it’s one of the best you’ll ever see.
