the batman is my favourite superhero movie ever made. this movie is where the creators were finally able to pull batman straight out of the comics and put him on the big screen and not just batman but every single character from the batman mythos that is present in the movie, straight out of the comics. this movie takes inspiration from two of my favourite comics ever “batman: year one” and “batman: the long halloween.” there is no way i wasn’t gonna like this when done nicely.
batman is the perfect character to make a dark noir detective movie around. this movie is the perfect batman movie. not just a great batman movie but a great movie as well. the atmosphere matt reeves was able to create is just the perfect amount. you won’t feel like you are in fucking chicago, this does feel like a part of town where you wouldn’t wanna leave unless batman actually deals with all the crime in the city.
my man robert motherfuckin’ pattinson. i wouldn’t lie, i was one of the people very confused and unhappy when it was announced that he is going to be the next batman but im very sorry robert, i wasn’t familiar with your game. making bruce wayne a dark brooding broken character was a great decision. bruce isn’t normally supposed to be like this but for this story it works. i’m pretty sure when the billionaire playboy persona has to come out, pattinson is gonna knock it out of the park as well. his batman tho is perfect. he is a good detective, he fights as batman should and he shows great emotions even with that mask present. thankyou for not giving him white eyes. i hope this batman in the future becomes somewhat similar to the arkham batman, if that happens i will be able to die happy.
zoë kravitz feels like she was pulled straight out of the year one comic. she fucking nailed the role. her chemistry with robert feels very natural and that’s why it worked. she perfectly captured the charm of catwoman. she’s hot as well so it’s a plus plus. it would be a real shame if the news that she isn’t gonna return for the sequel turns out to be true.
jeffery wright, colin farrell, paul dano, john turturro and andy dermis all are so fucking good man. colin farrell went on and won many awards for his penguin for the penguin mini series and awards coming to a superhero project is a big thing.
this movie along with superman are the two movies that i watch during hard times. the end message to both these movies are just be hopeful, shit doesn’t stay the way it is always. make the best of you and your life. people need hope, try to be their hope.
i’m glad we live in a time where we have both comic accurate batman and superman at the same time. it’s a great time to be alive. please bring them together in “the world’s finest” movie.
just once in your life, no matter what, watch the batman.
