A Single Man
"You know the only thing that has made the whole thing worthwhile has been those few times that I was able to truly connect with another person."I don't think there's ever been a film that has stuck with me quite like this one.
Ever since I first saw it, there's not been a day that I haven't thought about it. The soundtrack has been engraved in my memory. The cinematography with its saturation tricks is amazing and it probably would've been the highlight of the film had it not been for the acting; I cannot praise Colin Firth enough, he truly gives what I think is his best performance ever, George feels just so real in his loneliness and striving for human connection and oh my God he just gets me. I also loved his relationship with Julianne Moore's character - it just hits home on a personal level for me (ouch).
I don't have enough words to describe it - I don't think any combination of words from the English language or any other language I speak could ever describe what I feel about this film. It's a bittersweet, emotional and a truly beautiful experience that somehow leaves you both empty and fulfilled at the same time.
