Moonlight

100 Even better than I remember. A masterpiece with some of the best acting and writing I’ve ever seen. I think this versus La La Land is a ridiculous argument, La La Land is good, but it’s no Moonlight. Nothing is Moonlight. It’s absolutely fantastically directed. The symbolism is rich with every shot, but without making the audience feel dumb. The color scheme is very nice to look at, especially all of the different blues. The cinematography is magnificent with so many shots just capturing the emotion in the characters so well. The score is one of my favorites ever, but what’s so special is how they know when to use vs. not use music. The scenes without the score are carried so well by the acting and dialogue that I had tears in my eyes throughout the movie, especially in the second act, which is some of the best cinema I have ever seen. Everybody should watch this movie, it’s so important and beautiful, I cannot stress that enough.
