Bicycle Thieves
An nearly perfectly made film.
A really short story with a great impact.
The film shows and tells the story perfectly.
A poor man who struggles with his own ethics in front of his child.
The movie shows the brutality after WWII and how hard it is not only to survive, but also to live.
The ethical boundaries being pushed onto people are portrayed incredibly well.
The look of this movie is incredible, especially for the year it was made. The locations in everyday Rome were shown beautifully.
Also, the music was really good and the acting was really good too.
I loved the dynamic between Antonio and Bruno.
The restaurant scene was also so amazing, I loved it.
The way Bruno gets to briefly experience what life is like for people with more money, something that seems almost impossible for him to truly grasp, was shown beautifully.
Also that Antonio did everything right, but still lost everything and couldn’t do anything against it, was brutal.
He is powerless and has to live with it.
Overall, an unbelievably good movie with an amazingly ethical touch and a lot to say.
I loved nearly everything about it.
The only downside was that somewhere in the middle it got a bit dragging and “boring” to watch. And it also didn’t move me personally enough to make it a perfect film.
