He still got it. The GOAT has done it again. I knew absolutely nothing going into this movie. No trailer, no interviews, no videos, and I didn’t read Homer’s Odyssey or know anything about the story. I went in completely blind. Of course, I heard all the noise around the movie, the pre release hate especially, but because of that, and because I hadn’t watched movies in a while, I wasn’t really hyped. I love Nolan, but I wasn’t expecting a masterpiece or anything. My thoughts going in were: It’s gonna be a good movie, maybe even a great one, but I don’t think it’s gonna be anything crazy. Here I am, one day after watching The Odyssey in an IMAX theater. Idk... it’s a masterpiece. First of all, this was the greatest movie watching experience I’ve ever had. I genuinely couldn’t believe what I was experiencing. I was in shock. The sound was so majestic and brutal at the same time. And I don’t even think I need to talk about the visuals. Everyone who watches this movie will know what I mean. Absolutely unbelievable. Once again, Nolan proves that practical effects beat CGI on every level. The costumes, the set pieces just incredible. Yeah... what can I say? Nolan did an amazing job here. The pacing was incredible. 3 hours???? It felt like 1.5 h at most. I was completely glued to the screen. I always wanted to know what was going to happen next. As someone who hadn’t read the book and knew absolutely nothing about the story, it was perfect. The movie gave me every emotion there is. I was happy, I was sad, I was hyped, I was scared, everything in one movie. The casting was amazing as well. I loved every single performance. So yeah... what can I say after all that? A visual, auditory, and storytelling masterpiece. Thank you, Nolan, for creating this masterpiece.

Very good first half, disappointing second half. For the first half: I loved that the movie took its time to show little details and character development. The world gets explored really well. There were many beautiful looking scenes, and the pacing was perfect. The film often reached a point where something had been fully explained, and it always found the perfect moment to move on. The message of the movie is still communicated very subtly here and left open to the viewer’s interpretation. For the second half: Everything goes downhill from there. Everything gets shown in a super on the nose way. Characters are just placed into the story to make a single point and nothing more. Frank as an example is basically there to represent the moral perspective for the viewer, and that’s it. Just lazy writing. The movie focuses too heavily on one subject, which makes it feel very one dimensional at times. Louis Bloom can do whatever he wants and keeps getting away with it. Throughout the whole second half, the movie keeps screaming in your face that he is pursuing his goal and going too far in the process (we get it), but then he gets a happy ending, which can almost suggest that his behavior is justified or even good. The way the movie shows what journalism is today and what it does to our society is good, tho. Throughout the whole movie, the music was amazing, the look and the vibe were very good, and the acting was very strong. So yeah, we have an amazing first half and a pretty bad second half.

A really great movie for children. I think the movie has so much to offer for children to learn, from social life to culture and ethics. The four main characters are super strong and solidly written, all having different struggles and views on life. Everyone follows their own goals, with friendship being a big part of the story as well. The criticism of zoos is packaged really well and subtly, yet strongly enough that children can pick up on it subconsciously. The portrayal of the wilderness, fears, joy, and problem-solving is communicated in a very strong and subtle way. In general, all the characters were super charismatic and funny. The music and the overall look are great as well. Overall, the movie is really good and works perfectly as a kids’ movie, but beyond that, not really much more.

Wtf. I’m in shock. I knew the movie was going to be bad, but THAT? Outrageous. Can’t believe how bad that was. Like wtf is even going on? Not a single thing makes sense. I don’t even want to waste my energy listing everything that’s bad about this movie. Yeah, just one of the worst movies I have ever watched.
