THE CONJURING UNIVERSE 3/10 infinitesimally better than the first one i mean that budget!!! also the first film (and likely only) in this franchise to almost get me to cry! these performances are so INSANE! madison wolfe did her shit with that! frances o’connor was devastating, and the warrens, i mean, what else is there to say about them? watching all of these back makes me realize what i loved and hated about each one but i seriously have nothing to complain about with this one. it’s the best one and we won’t ever get another one like this again. you can also tell when james wan directs compared to john r leonetti or michael chaves. he delves insanely deep into a story and things often seem random like a gap in the floorboards or a leaky pipe but it all contributes to the climax and has a use in some way. cleverly thought out and SUCHHHH good production. i will happily watch patrick wilson put his bfa to use if it meant he sang elvis 24/7
