One of the best visual representations of memory I've ever seen.
After Stalker, I knew Tarkovsky was going to be a dam burst in my brain and this was no different - I will be ruminating and thinking over this long after this watch.
Tarkovsky is one of the only directors I've watched that has his films feel like literature. This feels like a book I'd study for English Literature and just barely grasp.
It was difficult to adjust to the same actors playing different people, but it worked so well. Margarita Terekhova delivers one of the best performances I've ever seen - she is so magnetic and melancholic I absolutely adore it.
The way this was shot was also incredible - so many tracking shots and pulls and pans that are just absolutely stunning. The use of different filmic mediums was also brilliant too.
I could talk endlessly about this film, but I'll leave that to the smarter people.
