A Clockwork Orange
What the actual fuck
It’s 3AM and I genuinely can’t sleep. I just finished rewatching A Clockwork Orange — a film I’ve been meaning to revisit for a long time — and I’m sitting here feeling absolutely sick to my stomach. I don’t even fully know how to process it. I’m disturbed, impressed, and grossed out all at once. I finally re-watched it tonight with my bro, who had never seen it before, and I was kind of excited to go back into it. I had a feeling it would hit harder on rewatch, and yeah… it definitely did.
The dystopian world Kubrick built here is just wild. It somehow feels completely unreal but also way too real at the same time. The cinematography is insane — It’s so unique and unsettling It gives the film this weird hypnotic energy. The colors, the shots, the strange music; it all blends into this surreal nightmare of a world. And that world feels so real for those 134 minutes. My friend (who rated this a low 4/5) said that the world that Kubrick crafted felt so real and alive, that he felt as a part of it. I couldn’t agree more, but I kind of wish I didn’t cause I feel like trowing up. But that just proves how well and captivating this film was crafted.
So yeah, A Clockwork Orange is brilliant, but I never want to watch it again anytime soon. 0/10 for comfort. 10/10 for unforgettable filmmaking.
Big shoutout to things I now irrationally hate because of this movie: • Beethoven (sorry bro) • Snakes • Milk • Russian slang • Behavior modification science • Ultra-Violence • Literally everything about Alex
I hate and love you at the same time Kubrick. I need to watch cartoons or something to reset my brain. Disgusting masterpiece.high 4.5/5 - low 5/5
