Inglourious Basterds
A movie about Brad Pitt scalping Nazis? Hell yeah(My 200th diary entry since joining Letterboxd)
Last night I had a dream, and I do not exactly recall it but I remember I rewatched Inglorious Bastards. I have no clue why I dreamed that, but damn it was a good movie in my dream. So when I was scrolling through this streaming site today and came across Inglorious Bastards, you just know I had to rewatch this. It’s basically meant to be.
“All dreams have meaning” turned out to be correct, cause this was indeed fucking good on a rewatch. What an absolute banger of a film. From the very first till the very last second I was hooked and just enjoying this work of art. How I gave 2001 a space odyssey the title of most boring movie I’ve seen in my previous diary entry, this film gets granted the most entertaining one, thanks to Tarantino’s geniuses. My dad can confirm this. His the person who doesn’t watch a movie more than two times, because he finds it boring then. Yet, when he returned from work today and saw me who just stared this film, he sat down and watched with me, eventough he had seen this film 4 times beforea already. When I asked why he watched nonetheless, he said he has no problems when rewatching a Tarantino movie, because not a second of his movies are ever boring. I couldn’t agree more. Mind you this is one of my fathers least favorite Tarantino movie, so that just proves how great of a director he is.
For me this is my favorite, and probably best Tarantino film I’ve seen so far. This movie is just filled with brilliance. We have some of the best, most remarkable and most well written characters ever. And not just one, literally every single character is genuinely perfect. Hans Landa, possibly the best antagonist cinema has ever seen, with his unpredictability and his charming charisma. Soshanna, who became on of my favorite female movie characters, and ofcourse we can’t forget Brad Pitt as Aldo Raine who makes this movie hilarious. The side characters were just phenomenal as well. The fact that this movies best and most remarkable scene (one of the best scenes in all of cinema), the bar scene had no of the 3 main characters In it says enough. Cause yet it’s one of the best scenes ever created, with those damn 3 glasses.
I’m not gonna talk about the cinematography, or the acting nor the dialogue. All perfect is what I will say. I did found the soundtrack(s) a bit of a flaw. First of all they were very cheesy, which normally works really well in a Tarantino film but not so well In this one. Second I feel like there’s one soundtrack missing that Immediately makes you think of this movie, like Pulp Fiction had. Furthermore I can’t really think of any flaws. And besides, who doesn’t like to see Nazis burning in hell??
5/5 for my 200th diary entry? Damn good deal!’Quentin Tarantino ranked
