Almost Famous
“The day it ceases to be dumb is the day it ceases to be real."
I will preface this review by saying I don't think I've ever been so deeply enamoured by a movie in my life. Following a 15 year old boy, an aspiring rock journalist, who tours with a rock band across America, he discovers an entirely new, deeply 70s world of music, conflict, love, idolatry, and disarray. When delving into the intricacies of this film you find there are so many lessons to learn. This is a funny yet deeply moving story that tells you to dream big, but to dream realistic. It is a lesson on relationships, both how to and not to maintain one. Most importantly, it seems to remind you how to live and how to love. The spontaneous "Tiny Dancer" sing-a-long on the bus is such a pure moment that encapsulates an unspeakable connection amongst everyone. After fleshing out their inner-most frustrations with one another as they (assumedly) plunge to their deaths on a plane, and subsequently surviving, they walk alongside one another in silence. Despite a failed article, the bond they have established, directly or indirectly, sends them back to each other in the end. The time they had together was short, but it was profound. As a whole, whether we are tethered by love, friendships, beginning, ends, we are still tethered nonetheless.
but seriously guys what a movie i'm going crazy
