Blade Runner 2049
"Dying For The Right Cause. It's The Most Human Thing We Can Do."
Blade Runner 2049 is driven by it’s cyberpunk aesthetic and questions of humanity; what it means to be human. Everything is beautiful. A Nearly perfect film that delivers one of the most down to earth and mysterious lifeforms, known as Officer K, our protagonist. What distinguishes this film from perfection is that it feels a bit tunnel visioned and one sided, in aspects such as the main antagonist, played by Jared Leto, and the fact that many of the other characters introduced serve little to no purpose but to be there, besides maybe Joi and Harrison Ford’s character from the prequel.
It would be fair to call this film minimalistic; it takes an approach to look as good as possible but everything feel so in place and not over the top — but it still looks good, yk? I could rewatch Blade Runner 2049 a multitude of times and never get bored. Despite the length, it never overstays it’s welcome.
