A beautiful ode to the joy and wonder that the arts bring to our lives, and a heart-wrenching indictment of the cruelty of the prison system. Colman Domingo lives and breathes excellence, and he truly broke me with this performance. Divine Eye was similarly stellar, bringing a perfect balance of fire and restraint to his performance. I absolutely loved that they used actual RTA members for this film; it somehow made Sing Sing even more emotionally impactful than it already was. Films and performances like these need to be championed more often. Sing Sing deserves every ounce of love it received and more.
