Sharp Objects
Sharp Objects leaves the viewer to think about how our past experiences shape our present lives. It examines how people can hide their true selves when haunted by family trauma and mental health issues. Camille struggles with many suppressed emotions as she comes to terms with her past trauma. Many of her coping mechanisms rely on self-destructive behaviors such as self-harm as a way to numb her pain. Despite her search for catharsis, much of the series moves at a glacial pace with an unrelenting morose atmosphere. Obviously, this miniseries won't be a comfortable viewing experience. Sharp Objects becomes more than Amy Adams' stuck-in drunken stupors, but rather a haunting exploration of human frailty and resilience.
