Nosferatu
I could not stop smiling this entire film. I was in awe at the accomplishment that this film was for every member of this crew, but I was especially stoked for Robert Eggers. Nosferatu is incredible and he deserves every ounce of praise coming his way.
Some of my favorite moments included, the castle reveal, the monster reveal, the rats, the fire scene, and the ship scene. There is a frame from the final scene that I cannot stop thinking about. It’s like a painting. So beautiful.
Bill Skarsgard blew my mind. I had high expectations for him but I did not see that performance coming! The design of Nosferatu was one of the best monsters I have ever seen.
This is my type of movie, so take everything I say with a grain of salt, but just know that Nosferatu feels like it was made just for me. The Lighthouse is my favorite R.E. film, but Nosferatu is near perfect in every way. I don’t generally give many films a full 5 stars, but as a fan I have to give it to this one.
Eggers’ style is one of my favorites. His production design, pacing, cinematic language, artistic taste, and dialogue, are what make his films so attractive to me. He unleashes his style in this film in a way that feels like it was his life calling or destiny to create this work of art.
I love how much detail Eggers period pieces get. You can smell their research and passion. I am a HUGE fan of vampires. Nosferatu 1922 and Bram Stokers Dracula are some of my favorites and to see Eggers unique approach to those stories was such a reward.
It was so fun to see Lily-Rose Depp in this role. This was such a J. Depp role so I’m sure he was proud.
Nicholas Hoult is quickly showing off his range. I want to see him in more weird movies.
Willem Dafoe is my guy. I can just imagine how happy he was everyday on this set. I bet he thinks about this movie every day.
Aaron Taylor-Johnson is always a treat.
I cannot wait to rewatch this film.
