Reds
Why is this movie not mentioned as one of the best looking ever?
[SPOILERS AHEAD]
Reds is amazing from pretty much the jump starting with documentary testimonies of the story we have yet to see and then we see Diane Keaton. Who acts her ass off for the entire time she's on screen. Playing a woman who has to fight hard just to receive the same credit as her husband in the her articles and art. She still struggles to gain that recognition from her colleagues deep into the movie.
John is the head he is the one going to russia on trips visiting the communists and acting as a politician while Louise is still the 2nd to him.
We have multiple other supporting characters in this like Gene O'Neill who is played amazingly by jack nicholson. Speaking of Gene's Gene Hackman is amazing in this and he appears for like 2 minutes and that might be generous.
The movie also does a great job at showcasing what starts off as an incredibly beneficial movement becomes about greed. Paul Sorvino Refuses to Acknowledge the election of multiple Communists and it completely jacks up the movement.
After what was one of the best 10 minutes of this film we get a instant bringdown after the amazing hour mark to intermission. And the movie never hits that high again. Great job by beatty.
Also Keaton in the courtroom might be one of my favorite scenes in film. The ameeicans in the scene are out to portray the russian revolution as an awful thing, but she compares both instances of the countries saying they won't/will leave the war and the non-christian country did what they had sworn to do. A great scene of showing gray in the B&W arguments.
