The Apartment
While watching the apartment I was utterly in love with the insane magnitude of these shots. From a filmmaking perspective this film looks absolutely amazing though it's in black and white it feels as if the color is just waiting to burst out. I can talk all review about how amazing the film is at showcasing depth especially in the early scenes with C.C. in the regular office. Wilder does a great job at visual storytelling in this as well with one scene I would like to bring up is the Bar scene with the woman. They are practically mirroring each other in the scene from drinking to the dancing that even though in a very small scene in the grand scheme of things is very showing of what Wilder was doing in making this classic.
Another one is the scene with Fran during the christmas party this comes shortly after her talk with the secretary and learns of Sheldrake's affairs. C.C. then shows her a christmas card delving into this further with a picture of Sheldrake's Family. Then the mirror "I like it that way makes me look the way I feel" is such a harrowing line for what would come later. Masterful work this review is just surface level of The Apartment.
