Breathe
that long panning shot towards the middle of this film is easily one of my favourites of any film, from any director.
i'm in awe of how perfectly mélanie manages to capture the chaos & insanity of friendships between teenage girls - Breathe obviously elevates this to the max but still manages to feel ridiculously familiar and true to what it actually feels like to be in one... i think it would be hard to accurately portray the intensity of the feelings without playing up the chaos of the spoken words and actions a little.
also this might just be me being gay & seeing homoerotic undertones in everything but i feel so called out by joséphine japy's character because without even saying anything, her demeanour just completely encapsulates that feeling of like, ‘is this sexual tension or are we just really affectionate friends?!??’
