Poor Thingsadam 9.8· December 28, 2023Followdare i say yorgos’s best film to date, and possibly his masterpiece ? everything about this film was beautiful and it was such a visual treat and i found myself staring at the screen in awe of what i was witnessing for the majority of its runtime. however, i felt it did drag for a bit at times, but on further rewatches i may grow to appreciate those moments more. pretty faithful to the book as well, apart from the ending being quite different but maintaining the same messages as the book. i was very interested to see how some of the ‘harder to adapt’ parts were translated (such was wedderburn’s breakdown and his subsequent, hilarious, comparison of bella to the whore of babylon) and i felt they were executed in a very satisfying way. i wish it kept in bella/victoria’s response to ‘poor things’ that concludes the book but i see why this was cut. overall, love love love!CommentsSign in to react and join the conversation.Sign inGet the appSee all adam's reviews for Poor Things (2)First watch9.8December 28, 2023Rewatch 19.8March 15, 2024
