Bully
I really love this and I think it’s because I feel Larry Clark’s style fits so well with the Truecrime genre. His obsession with the American youth delivers a compelling story here as it really happened… he gives himself space enough to do what he does best (with still some questionable choices I have to say) while showcasing a brutal tale of revenge fueled into poor life choices, circumstances and understanding. I’m always gagged when they end up killing him… I think it’s because Clark spends so much time building his world, diving us into this deluded friend group killing the boredom with sex, drugs and violence. We are so fooled by their dumb behaviors and dialogues that we end up as detached from the real subject than they are. But when the first stab hits the flesh… reality comes back and it’s so brutal, raw and realistic, it’s terrifying.
