Superman

for years i thought that superman 1978 was forever gonna be the best superman movie ever made, and after seeing this, i have been proven wrong. these are just my first impressions because i've just come home from the cinema so don't think that this is gonna be a thought through review, but i still need to talk about it soooo.... first of all, this might be the most visually stunning dc movie i've ever seen. there is not a single shot i didn't like, the cgi was absolutely insane and god the color grading was just amazing. the costume design was one of my favorites that i've ever seen in a superhero movie, and the music was crazy good. i just needed to compliment the cinematography before i mentioned anything else. this movie was truly a comic book coming to life. next, i cried two times during this movie, both times because of how well-written the characters were. first time crying was when jonathan kent talked to clark in front of the house (i just love the kents), and the second time was at the very end of the movie because i was just so insanely happy that the characters who have been mischaracterised for years have finally gotten their justice. the entire dc universe really means a lot to me and i was fulfilled seeing well-deserved good writing for once. david is insane for this role. this might be one of my favorite supermans we've ever gotten, if not the favorite. lex and lois have definitely never been better in movies, and all of the side characters were just done surprisingly amazing. i just love how this movie is the best at explaining why superman does what he does while explaining why lex is the way he is at the same time. the characterisation in this movie is definitely one of my favorites in all of dc. not to mention how happy i am to see side characters shine. martha and jonathan, guy gardner, hawkgirl, mr terrific, metamorpho, jimmy and perry, i love you all so, so much. and holy shit, i adored all the other characters mentioned here— like, supergirl, peacemaker, rick flag, maxwell lord ??? i wasn't expecting any of them (well, except peacemaker) to appear, and it took me strength not to scream in the middle of a movie theatre just because a few random characters and a gotham city sign appeared. ALSO SERBO-CROATIAN WAS SPOKEN WOOO LETS GOOO to the wonderful cast and to the amazing director james gunn, thank you for this movie. words can't express how happy i am that i got to experience this. i could say so, so much more about why i love this film but i feel like i've said more than enough already. *— ;; fav quotes ;;* parents aren't for tellin' their children who they're supposed to be. we are here to give y'all tools to help you make fools of yourselves all on your own. your choices, your actions, that's what makes you who you are. i'm as human as everyone else.
